True Allegiance + Mission Sunday

Hey Sacred Place Family,

We are deep in Lent now—five weeks in—and the text has brought us to a courtroom. Tomorrow, on the Fifth Sunday in Lent, we sit with John 19:1–16a: Jesus before Pilate, a crown of thorns, a purple robe, and a crowd that declares, “We have no king but the emperor.” Against that, Psalm 146 answers back: “Do not put your trust in princes.”

This Sunday is Mission Sunday—our monthly gathering where the rhythm changes. We think together, discuss together, and let the doing be the proclamation. We’re centering our pillar of Inclusion, asking together what true allegiance looks like right now, who gets marked as “other” by the powers that be, and what it means to stand with the condemned rather than the crowd.

This is also Bryan’s last Mission Sunday with us. He’ll be with us through April 19, and we want to mark these final weeks with intention.
