Disruptive Procession
Hey Sacred Place Family,
The same crowd that shouted hosanna on Sunday is standing at the cross by Friday. This week we hold both moments at once—the branches and the nails, the parade and the sign, the hope and the cost. Palm/Passion Sunday is not a celebration interrupted by tragedy. It is a single story, told honestly.
This Sunday
Disruptive Procession
John 12:12–16 & John 19:16b–22 (CEB)
The Work of Imagination, Week 6
We open this week differently. The service begins with scripture read cold—no introduction, no setup—and the kids processes with branches in hand before we even say good morning. Then the service pivots. The same Passover week. The same city. And above the cross, a sign in three languages that accidentally tells the truth empire was trying to suppress.
We gather at 11:00 AM at 10289 25th St, Rancho Cucamonga, and online at live.yoursacredplace.org
Holy Week
Maundy Thursday, April 2 — Risky Mercy. Jesus’s final words from the cross. We share communion together. 7:00 PM.
Good Friday, April 3 — Empire’s Shadow. We stay present to what power destroys, and trust that God’s story does not end where empire says it does. 7:00 PM.
Easter Sunday, April 5 — Fulfilling Imagination. The empty tomb. Jesus calls Mary by name. Resurrection is not escapist triumph—it is God’s stubborn presence that outlasts empire. Bring someone.
A Note on This Week
This Saturday, March 28, people will gather right here in Rancho Cucamonga—at Haven & Foothill—as part of No Kings Day, a nationwide day of action. Thousands of events are planned across the country. If you’re able to join locally, the Rancho Cucamonga gathering runs 11 AM–1 PM. We carry all of that into Sunday. The parade we’re joining this week moves toward a cross, not a throne. That’s not a defeat. That’s the whole point. More info at Indivisible.
I hope to see you Sunday.
