We've come a long way...
I've been a part of Sacred Place since before there was a Sacred Place. February 24 will mark 6 years since I decided (seemingly on a whim) to change my Sunday morning plans and visit San Dimas Community Church United Church of Christ. I hadn't been in church for more than a year, and for most of that year I had absolutely no plans to go back. I remember sitting in the back, hoping that I wouldn't be noticed, and cringing a little bit after the service, when someone I'd never met hurried up to me after the service and asked (okay, maybe "asked" isn't the right word, I was sort of told) me to come to coffee hour.
For an hour I found myself drawn into conversation with people that really seemed to want to know who I was. I left that day feeling overwhelmed intrigued. I wasn't sure if I'd return, but when the next Sunday came, I found myself once again sitting in church with people that truly seemed to care.
6 years later, we look a lot different than we did that day. On the outside we've changed a lot, but the thing that drew me in is still the same as it was. We want to be a place of community, compassion, and extravagant welcome. A place where we can come and be our whole selves. A place where we are inspired and challenged. A place where we learn together; what God looks like, what love looks like, and what it means to create Sacred Places for others.

The Emergency Network Los Angeles is coordinating volunteers. If you have time and are able to volunteer, there are many opportunities to get involved.

Sometimes it's good to get together "just because". Join us at the Mission Center on February 12 at 5:30 PM for lasagna and conversation. All are welcome.
