This Sunday, resurrect•ing Hope

Pentecost is next week and Mission Sunday is the following week.

Grace and peace to you! This Sunday, we conclude our time in the first letter to the church at Corinth with a look at where we find hope in all of this resurrection talk. It should be a meaningful gathering as we also gather at the table for Communion.

The survey results were inconclusive so we’re going to try a few different things when it comes to email. Starting next week, you’ll get an email from me, Pastor Matthew, on Mondays with things related to what’s going on with Sacred Place events and gatherings (and maybe a few wider UCC events.) Then, on Fridays, you’ll receive a more outreach-focused email with what’s going on with our partner organizations and in the community, plus and updates on Mission Sunday projects. There will always be some overlap, but we hope that splitting these up will keep things a bit more brief.

Each non-Mission Sunday week, our gatherings are live streamed on our website (live.yoursacredplace.org), our Facebook page, and on YouTube. Be sure to bookmark these links, as they are the same each and every week. If you have any technical issues, feel free to text us at (909) 506-2400. We’ll do our best to answer on Sunday mornings.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

—Pastor Matthew

Community News

May 4th Recap

On Saturday, May 4th, leaders and church goers from several area congregations gathered at Pomona Valley Pride to share stories of faith and to talk about creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ people can gather to find love and acceptance as they explore spiritual questions. It was amazing to hear similar stories and to think creatively about what spirituality and “church” can be for people who have been hurt by it in the past. We’re hoping that this was just the first of many future events. For more information on Pomona Valley Pride and the work we are doing to create sacred places with them, please chat with Bryan or click here.

June is Pride Month

There are a couple of Pride events coming in June For those who are interested.

June 2, Claremont Presbyterian and is holding a Pride event and they have graciously invited any who want to attend. More info will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

June 8th is Pomona Pride. Pomona Valley Pride is coordinating some events that day and info will be sent out as soon as it’s available.
