The Practice of Hospitality: This (Mission) Sunday at Sacred Place

Mission Sundays are when we set aside time to focus on one of our core values: justice, inclusion, and family.
The Practice of Hospitality: This (Mission) Sunday at Sacred Place

Mission Sunday is this Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 10:30 AM!

I’m sure that all of us have—at one time or another—heard the saying; “Preach the gospel at all times, and when necessary use words.” Often attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi, it is used as a reminder that we shouldn’t just talk about our faith, but we should also live it out in our actions. Like some of you who are reading this, I come from an Evangelical background, and in that worldview preaching the gospel had a certain look, and at least for me, it was a whole lot of words unsupported by deeds.

Each month, Sacred Place holds what we call our “Mission Sunday.” On Mission Sundays we try to focus on things that we can do for the people around us. Each Mission Sunday we try to focus on one of our core values—justice, inclusion, or family—and do something as a church that puts actions behind those ideas.

This Sunday, it’s Inclusion Sunday! Please join us as at 10:30 AM when we welcome the Rev. Jennifer Fisher and Aaron Bailey, the founders of Launchpad Partners. Launchpad is one of our ministry partners dedicated to helping churches like ours work effectively and thrive as they build inclusive faith communities. Jen and Aaron will be joining us via Zoom and facilitating a conversation about the spiritual practice of hospitality and growing our outreach.

Sacred Kids programming will be provided.

Construction Update

We’re finally nearing the finish line! Construction continued this week on the ramp and bathroom near the playground & patio. With most of the major work completed, detail and finish work move forward. However, the rain this week brought a surprise! There is a leak in the roof somewhere above the kitchen and another above the exterior bathroom. The roof was inspected on Wednesday & Thursday, so we should be able to give people an update on Sunday.

See you soon!
