Okay, that might be a really bad pun with how hot it has been this week. And yet, it's a busy month at Sacred Place. With five Sundays, there is a bit extra to share about. The holiday threw off our schedule this week, so Bryan and I are combining our updates.

We wrapped up our Creation Care series this past Sunday. That reflection will be up on our website soon, but the entire gathering is available on YouTube.

A serene image of a book with its pages gently turning, illuminated by soft, warm light. The background subtly blends nature and space, with stars twinkling in the distance, symbolizing the unfolding of promises and new beginnings. The design evokes a sense of calm, trust, and divine guidance, perfectly representing the theme of "Promises Unfolding" in a church series.
Our new Fall Series, "Promises Unfolding" begins on Sunday, September 15 at 11 AM.

Our Fall Kick-Off Sunday, is September 15 at 10:30 AM. We begin a new with our 9-month exploration of the entirety of Scripture. We begin with the covenant or promise God makes to Abraham and Sarah. After spending a summer looking at the creation story, picking up with the story of God's people is a natural movement. I look forward to this new journey.

We spend the four weeks of this series, Promises Unfolding, looking and the promises between God and God's people, the ways the people respond to God, and the ways God responds to the people.

This Sunday, Bryan is leading Small Group Sunday as we place our conversations of the creation story into the context of the entire narrative. This means I'll be joining you again for Mission Sunday later this month.

September is an exciting month. I hope you will join us in person or online (select gatherings only).

Have a wonderful, albeit toasty, weekend,
Pastor Matthew

Just A Few Announcements This Week

Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho Cucamonga's annual holiday food drives are coming soon. This year, sacred place has committed to providing at least 20 holiday food baskets for the program. Keep in mind that there will be opportunities to give in November and December. Flyers will be available in the next few weeks detailing needed items, collection dates, and distribution dates. I'll pass them along as soon as I have them.

Pomona Valley Pride

Pomona Valley Pride's Annual Gayla fundraiser is coming soon. For the last few years we've been working with PVP, and they are doing wonderful work in the community. The Gayla is a great opportunity to meet people, raise money and celebrate all of the work PVP has done in the LGBTQIA+ community. Some of us will be going. If you want more information email me.

Additionally, for the last year, Sacred Place has been working with PVP as part of their PRISM Collective. Some PRISM is a collective of local area churches and other spiritual organizations committed to providing support to spiritual seekers in the queer community. Right now the group is in transition and we are asking collectively; "What's next?' How do we want to move forward into next year and what kinds of events and services should we plan or seek to provide?

PRISM Program Survey If you click this link you will be taken to a 3 minute survey that will help us plan for the future of the PRISM program. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me here.

Riverside Interfaith Council

The Riverside Interfaith Council is a collective of faith based organizations committed to fostering communication, understanding, and cooperation between people of different faith expressions. They have two upcoming events this month.
