New Things on the Horizon
Here are some things to look for in the coming weeks.
Community Partnerships
Pomona Valley Pride's PRISM Coalition will be meeting via Zoom on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 5:30 PM. PRISM is a collective of open and affirming faith-based organizations that are committed to serving our community and creating safe places for LGBTQIA+ individuals to explore spiritual questions. This month's meeting will focus oxides for community outreach and collaboration between the various organizations involved. Rancho Cucamonga has a diverse religious and spiritual population. In an effort to get to know them, I'm reaching out to various faith groups to establish dialog. As we move into the last four months of the year, it's a good time to get to know our neighborhood and build bridges into some faith traditions that look very different from our own.
The Riverside Interfaith Council will be hosting a Faith Chat via Zoom on September 19, 2024 at 1 PM with Riverside Islamic Center. If you're interested but unable to be on the Zoom call, the link to the recorded event will be posted on their website. Past Faith Chats are also linked there.
Holiday Baskets
Every year Rancho Cucamonga Family Services collects food donations for their Holiday Basket drive. This year, Sacred Place has committed to providing at least 20 baskets (10 for Thanksgiving, 10 for Christmas). In the next couple weeks we should have more information on what's needed as well as deadline information. I'll pass on the info as soon as I have it.
Social Justice is an important component to what we believe and how we want to show up in the world. I'm currently looking for organizations that we can partner with that focus on Justice. If you have any organizations in mind, suggestions are always welcome. Please email me.
