Greetings Sacred Place Family!

Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 and an early Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🎆

As I shared last week, June was a relaxing month to start summer. July is when things pick up. First up, is our new series, Creation Care:

Creation Care is our new series through which we will explore our sacred duty to protect and nurture the Earth. Over the course of five Sundays sprinkled throughout July, August, and September, we will delve into Biblical passages which highlight the beauty and complexity of God’s creation, our responsibility as stewards of all which God has created, and the urgent need for environmental sustainability. Each Sunday, we will look at different aspects of our relationship to creation, reflecting on how we can contribute to the healing and preservation of our world.

Creation Care begins this Sunday, July 7 at 11 AM in-person, and online.

Sacred Story Hour • Sunday, July 7 • 6:00 PM

This Sunday, we’re hosting our first Sacred Story Hour. As I shared this past Sunday, at Sacred Place, we believe that each person’s story has sacred worth. While we share bits and pieces of those in our time together on Sunday mornings. I wanted to create a set-aside time for sharing those stories. Inspired by The Moth Radio Hour, we’re creating a special evening event on the first Sunday of each month. Storytellers are invited to share a 5-minute-or-less story which reflects that month’s theme.

For July we’re celebrating the end of Pride Month with stories of Pride. This isn’t limited to those who identify as LGBTQ+. We all have stories about becoming who we are and accepting how we might be seen as different in the world.

You’re invited to share a prepared story, or simply come and listen to the stories shared. We’ll gather Sunday, July 7 from 6–7 with doors opening at 5:45. If you’d like to share a story, let me know.

I’m excited about this Sunday and trying new things. These events outside of Sunday mornings are important as we seek to widen our reach and create more sacred places. I hope you will join us this weekend for our new adventure.
