Creating Sacred Moments

What we're hoping for.

How can 10 Backpacks make a Sacred moment?

Yesterday I dropped all of this off at the Rancho Cucamonga Community Center. I’d never been there before. It’s lovely. There’s lots of green space and facilities for everyone. As I walked in, I passed by a large group of kids who were there as part as Rancho Cucamonga’s Summer Camp program. While I was talking with the program director, she told me that they were able to give backpacks to all of the families on the wait list this year.

To me, that was a Sacred Moment, because we were able to contribute in a small way to meeting the needs of people in our community. It’s easy to forget that sometimes the simplest, smallest gesture of kindness or inclusivity can have a large impact on the world around us. Thank you for helping us make that possible.

In July, as part of Family Mission Sunday, I’m reaching out to Inland Valley Hope Partners to see how Sacred Place can partner with them. More info will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Pomona Valley Pride

PVP is looking for volunteers If you haven’t yet been to their space, I encourage you to go by and take a look. They’re always looking for ways to embrace the LGBTQIA+ community. You can find out what they’re doing and get more information about volunteering on their website.

Website Updates

We’re working on putting together a summer schedule. There’s even an Events page on our website. New things will be added as they come up.

Making New Connections.

As summer progresses, our goal is to continue making contacts in the community. I’ve been chatting with some of the members of the Riverside Interfaith Council and I’ve reached out to Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity, seeking info on the work those organizations are doing in our area.

Every time I make a phone call, or send an email, or join a zoom meeting I get excited. It’s great to see what these organizations are doing in the areas where they’re already established. Then I think; “what if?” What if Sacred Place can partner here and help to extend services to more people in places where there hasn’t been access before? That’s a great way to fulfill our mission.

Suggestions?
