Creating Community and Building a House
What happens when our ideas of how things should be don't line up with how things are, or how they end up? What do we do when the things we think we know turn out to be wrong? What if what could be - or what happens instead - is actually better than what we imagined?
Those are a few of the things we'll be talking about on Sunday. I look forward to seeing you.

This Sunday is Small Group Sunday! Join us at 11 for a lively discussion on the story of King David. Samuel from last Sunday plays an important role in David's life. Our conversations on the Biblical stories tie us to the narrative threads which weave throughout our journey this year.

Community Updates
What’s going on with our community partners.
Teach Us How to Pray
Sacred Place will be offering an event that's part book club and part practical study on the practice of Centering Prayer. We will be reading the book Intimacy With God, An Introduction to Centering Prayer, by Thomas Keating. Prayer isn't just about the list of worries and anxious moments in our lives that we ask God to fix. Prayer is an opportunity to learn to quiet the internal and external stuff that crowds in on us every day, and to find peace in this moment, right now, where we are. For those who are interested, I we would like to begin the study the week of October 21. If you would like to participate orhave any questions, feel free to email me.
Community Events
Our friends at Claremont Presbyterian Church are sponsoring a social justice oriented workshop in September and October. Rev. Vikki Randall, D.Min. (she, her), Founding Pastor of Haven Fellowship San Gabriel Valley will be leading the discussion. Click here to register

Keep in mind that there will be opportunities to give in November and December. The Online Flyer is viewable here. Flyers are also available at the Sacred Place Mission Center. Pomona Valley Pride
For the last year, Sacred Place has been working with PVP as part of their PRISM Collective. PRISM is a collective of local area churches and other spiritual organizations committed to providing support to spiritual seekers in the queer community. Right now the group is in transition and we are asking collectively; "What's next?' How do we want to move forward into next year and what kinds of events and services should we plan or seek to provide?
PRISM Program Survey If you click this link you will be taken to a 3 minute survey that will help us plan for the future of the PRISM program. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me here.
Riverside Interfaith Council

Building cross-cultural relationships is important. Conversation with diverse people from different faith traditions can broaden our understanding of what it means to be a people of faith as well as give us opportunities to understand how we are all a part of God's family.
The Riverside Interfaith Council is dedicated to bringing together people of different faiths and exploring the question of how our traditions may be different, but at our core, we are all more alike than we realize.
Their next scheduled event is On October 20. Their Caravan For Peace will include stops at 3 locations in riverside with opportunities to hear speakers and engage in faith discussions. For more information Click here or reach in one of the ways listed above.
