Called to Show Up
Hi friends,
This Sunday, September 28, is Mission Sunday: Called to Show Up.
No sermon. No music. No traditional liturgy. Just us, showing up together for inclusion and care.
What we’re doing
- Scripture lens: Exodus 2:23–25; 3:1–15; 4:10–17 — God hears the cries of the oppressed and calls ordinary, reluctant people (hi, Moses) to respond with presence.
- Short reflection video: A 29-minute BibleWorm piece from Bobby Williamson on God’s name, holy ground, and what “showing up” really asks of us.
- Guided conversation: Brief, honest, human. Where are we being called to show up right now?
- Hands-on action: We’ll assemble hygiene giveaway bags for people in our community who need them. Inclusion isn’t a value—it’s something we do with our hands.
Why it matters
Moses says, “Not me.” God says, “I’ll go with you.”
Inclusion at Sacred Place means presence over perfection—we don’t wait to feel ready before we love our neighbors.
Come as you are. Bring your full, imperfect, beautiful self. That’s who God calls. That’s who our neighbors need.
See you Sunday,
Bryan

P.S. Know someone who’s been craving community or purpose? This is a great Sunday to invite them.

Rancho Cucamonga Holiday Food Drive
We are proud to support the Rancho Cucamonga Holiday Food Drive, which provides families in need with food during the holidays. Each year Sacred Place donates completed baskets, but last year the need was greater than the city could meet, and some families went without help. This year, we want to do even more. In addition to our own donations, we’re asking you to help spread the word. In the coming weeks, the city will release its donation list—we’ll have flyers available for you to share with friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Whether you give a single item, sponsor a basket, or volunteer a few hours, every contribution is part of God’s justice rolling down like waters. Small, meaningful acts add up, and together we can help our neighbors thrive.
Pomona Valley Pride’s Annual Fundraising Gayla
This event is always a joyful evening—a chance to see friends, make connections, and learn more about the services PVP provides in our community. For details, or tickets, visit the Gayla website.
