Ash and Water

As I shared this past Sunday, our friends at Altadena Community Church UCC did indeed loose their building to the Eaton Fire last week. How can you help? The National Setting of the United Church of Christ has set up a fund already, as has the Southern California Nevada Conference. If you go to the Donate menu option on the Conference website, you'll see a 2025 Wildfire Relief option. If you have trouble with that, the National Setting has a donation page specifically for the wildfires in California.

I am at a bit of a loss for words of what to say. The situation is still active, and what help is needed is still being assessed. So we pray:

We bring our prayers
 for neighbors whose lives are marked by ash and loss, 
for the grieving hearts of our friends from Altadena Community Church, United Church of Christ, who lost their historic church building last week, 
for homes and sacred spaces consumed by flames,
and for those displaced, waiting to rebuild their lives. Hear these our prayers, O God.

This coming Sunday, we gather at 11 AM for our Small Group Sunday. I will be leading a conversation on our next stop in Jesus’ story, His baptism.
