A Future Filled With Hope
That future seems further away than it did just a little over a week ago. I’m still putting my thoughts together on how we best move forward in a community which may not align with our values of justice, inclusion, and family. Bryan discovered yesterday when dropping off our 10 Thanksgiving baskets, that only 30 of the 300 families who signed up are covered at this point. He’ll have more info on Friday for how you can help. It seems the community around us is becoming more and more insular, and me-first focused. That doesn’t look like the Kingdom of God we see in Scripture.
It’s possible the text for this coming Sunday from Isaiah 6 was chosen by the creators of the Narrative Lectionary knowing it would fall after the tumultuous election season, or it might be the move of the Spirit. In any case, there are some important albeit difficult words from the Prophet which might resonate deeply with our own experience.
This Sunday, we continue our series, Hope Rising, knowing that even when it may not seem like it, that concept is true. Our God is faithful and on the move.
Until we see each other again.
Grace and peace to you,
Pastor Matthew
